Year 5 SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary School)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Year 5 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a warm, friendly primary school in the London Borough of Havering. You will work closely with a group of Year 5 boys who have high levels of special educational needs, providing tailored support to help them thrive academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Support groups of SEN pupils in Year 5, delivering both 1:1 and small‑group assistance.
• Apply a thorough understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) to daily practice.
• Differentiate activities and resources to meet individual learning needs.
• Encourage social, emotional and cognitive development through engaging, creative approaches.

Required profile

• Prior experience as a Year 5 SEN Teaching Assistant.
• Proven experience supporting pupils with special educational needs.
• Confidence working across primary year groups.
• Willingness to collaborate as part of a dedicated school team.
