Year 6 Maths & English Intervention Teacher – Mornings Only

About the role

This temporary, part‑time position is for an experienced Year 6 Maths and English Intervention Teacher working mornings only at a welcoming primary school in Birkenhead. The role focuses on delivering targeted, small‑group sessions that help pupils close attainment gaps, build confidence and prepare for SATs and the transition to secondary school.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver focused maths and English intervention lessons to Year 6 pupils each morning.
• Plan and prepare engaging booster sessions for small groups.
• Assess pupil progress, adapt teaching strategies and record outcomes.
• Support pupils in SAT preparation and aim for expected or higher standards.
• Collaborate with Year 6 staff and senior leaders to align interventions with classroom learning.
• Maintain a positive, supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
• Recent experience teaching Key Stage 2, preferably Year 6.
• Proven ability to deliver successful intervention or booster programmes.
• Strong knowledge of the Year 6 English and maths curriculum.
• Excellent classroom management, communication and organisational skills.
• Not suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
