Young Person Support Worker – Gateshead/Newcastle

About the role
As a Young Person Support Worker you will provide care and guidance to children and young people in residential and community settings across Gateshead and Newcastle. You will work on a 2:1 staffing ratio, ensuring safety, wellbeing and personal development for each service user.
Key responsibilities
- Support children and young people with a range of needs, including SEMH, physical and learning disabilities.
- Maintain detailed daily notes covering emotions, interactions, food diaries and routines.
- Assist with money management, receipt keeping and life‑skill development.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns promptly.
- Contribute to support plans, risk assessments, incident reporting and the implementation of individual programmes.
- Help with household tasks, personal hygiene and daily routines such as waking, bedtime and appointments.
- Build positive relationships with service users, families and external professionals.
Required profile
- Strong attention to detail and ability to write comprehensive daily records.
- Emotional resilience and ability to manage challenging behaviour.
- Professional, non‑judgemental attitude towards diverse needs.
- Good problem‑solving skills and ability to think quickly.
