Young Person Support Worker

About the role

An established charity is seeking compassionate Young Person Support Workers to help vulnerable youth develop the skills and confidence needed for independent living. Working in supported accommodation, you will provide both practical and emotional assistance to residents.

Key responsibilities

• Build positive, person‑centred relationships with young people and act as their Key Worker.
• Complete assessments, support plans, risk assessments and regular reviews.
• Teach essential life skills such as budgeting, cooking, shopping, cleaning, tenancy duties and personal wellbeing.
• Provide advice, advocacy and emotional support regarding housing, education, employment, health and welfare.
• Encourage participation in social, leisure and community activities.
• Collaborate with local authorities, education providers, healthcare professionals and partner agencies.
• Maintain accurate case records and update electronic support systems.
• Promote safeguarding, health and safety, equality and professional boundaries.
• Help keep the accommodation environment safe, clean and welcoming.
• Work a flexible rota that includes evenings, weekends, bank holidays and a weekly sleep‑in shift.

Required profile

• Experience supporting vulnerable young people in housing, social care, youth work or a similar setting.
• Understanding of safeguarding, trauma‑informed practice and person‑centred support.
• Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Strong communication, organisational and record‑keeping abilities.
• Confidence working independently and as part of a supportive team.
• Good IT skills and experience maintaining accurate case notes.
• At least an A Level 3 qualification.
