Youth & Community Support Worker Apprentice

About the role

Crediton Town Council’s Youth & Community Support Worker Apprentice will join the Crediton Youth Service to support young people aged 10‑19 through creative, project‑based work and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with young people and community members.
• Assist in planning and delivering youth activities, projects and events.
• Encourage participation, leadership and decision‑making among young people.
• Support outreach, detached youth work and school‑based activities.
• Promote Crediton Youth Service via community engagement and social media.
• Contribute to fundraising initiatives and community events.

Required profile

• GCSE (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above in English.
• Good mathematical understanding.
• Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) – expected grades if results due Summer 2026.
• At least 12 months experience working with young people in youth‑work settings.
• Strong communication, organisational and IT skills.
• Knowledge of youth‑work principles and commitment to participation.
• Willingness to study for the BA (JNC) Youth & Community Work degree at Plymouth Marjon University.

Required skills

• IT proficiency (office software, social media platforms).

What we offer

• 30 hours per week on a three‑year fixed‑term apprenticeship.
• Salary £12,480 per annum (£15,392 FTE) with age‑related increases after the first year.
