Youth Complex Support Worker – Penzance

About the role

We are seeking a Youth Complex Support Worker to join our specialised crisis team in Penzance and St Ives. You will provide person‑centred interventions for vulnerable children and young people with complex neurodevelopmental profiles, autism and high‑risk behaviours.

Key responsibilities

• Encourage healthy daily routines, independent life‑skills and safe community outings.
• De‑escalate volatile situations using verbal techniques while maintaining safety.
• Collaborate daily with social workers, therapists and managers to implement robust care plans.
• Deliver tailored support for children with complex needs across short‑term block bookings and longer‑term placements.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months paid support work experience in UK social care or education.
• Compassionate, low‑ego and resilient approach to managing physical aggression or absconding risks.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Flexible availability to build a rota around personal commitments.
• Background as Youth Mentor, Support Worker, SEN Teaching Assistant, Therapeutic Support Worker, Family Support Worker or Sports Coach.
