Youth Mentor – SEMH Tutor (Full‑time Temporary)

About the role

Randstad Student Support is seeking a compassionate Youth Mentor to provide one‑to‑one support for children in crisis and local authority care. You will combine academic tutoring with emotional regulation techniques, using trauma‑informed approaches to help young people rebuild confidence and trust.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver bespoke 1:1 sessions that balance academic mentorship with emotional support.
• Apply trauma‑informed strategies to safely de‑escalate challenging moments.
• Support young people in rebuilding self‑esteem and developing trust in adults.
• Collaborate with local authorities, providing feedback on progress and milestones.

Required profile

• Experienced educator or tutor with a background in SEMH, EBD, or trauma‑informed care.
• Calm, resilient presence with strong behaviour‑management abilities.
• Experience in alternative provision, youth justice, or residential care settings.
