1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary SEND (Year 1)

About the role
This full‑time, temporary position supports a Year 1 pupil with high‑needs autism on a 1:1 basis within a specialist classroom in Westminster. You will work alongside an experienced Teaching Assistant who leads the daily planning and delivery of the SEND provision.
Key responsibilities
- Provide individual, structured support for a non‑verbal child with autism throughout the school day.
- Facilitate sensory‑based activities and help the pupil engage with the curriculum.
- Maintain consistent routines and encourage positive behaviour.
- Collaborate with the lead Teaching Assistant and other staff to monitor progress.
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom organisation.
Required profile
- Minimum of one year experience in EYFS or Key Stage 1.
- Previous experience supporting children with autism and additional needs.
- Calm, resilient and able to respond positively to challenging situations.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with children and staff.
- Passionate about helping SEND pupils achieve their potential.
Required skills
What we offer
- Competitive daily rate of £90‑£100 (depending on experience).
- Full‑time hours: 8:30 am‑4:00 pm, Monday‑Friday.
- Long‑term placement from September 2026 to at least July 2027.
