Academic Developer

About the role

The Academic Developer will champion and elevate the quality of learning, teaching, and assessment across UEL. Working at the interface of theory and practice, you will partner with School Directors and professional services to design, deliver and evaluate high‑impact academic development initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and evaluate professional development programmes for academic staff.
• Lead university‑wide symposia and mentor staff through AdvanceHE Fellowship applications.
• Drive technology‑enhanced learning (TEL) projects and support digital/AI‑enabled education.
• Conduct and publish pedagogic research that informs teaching practice.
• Collaborate with curriculum teams to embed innovative teaching approaches.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of proven experience in higher‑education academic development.
• Experience of end‑to‑end design, delivery and evaluation of professional development initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with academic and professional services teams.
• Track record of leading educational events and mentoring staff.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, innovative teaching culture.
