Accounts Receivable Team Leader

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accounts Receivable professional to lead the day‑to‑day income function for a values‑led organisation. You will ensure accurate collection, allocation and reporting of income while maintaining strong financial controls.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Accounts Receivable function, processing, allocating and reconciling all income.
• Manage credit control activities and monitor outstanding debt to support cash‑flow management.
• Oversee housing income processes, including rent, Housing Benefit and Universal Credit postings.
• Ensure timely bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close, reporting, audit requirements and bad‑debt provisions.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to resolve income and account queries.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance controls and efficiency.
• Lead, coach and develop the Accounts Receivable team, driving performance and engagement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit Control or Income Management, preferably within housing, charity or public sector.
• Previous experience leading, supervising or mentoring finance team members.
• Strong reconciliation, cash allocation and ledger management skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident communicator able to build effective relationships across finance and operational teams.
• Highly organised, able to prioritise a varied workload and consistently meet deadlines.
