Assistant Branch Merchandiser

About the role

The Assistant Branch Merchandiser will support a leading multi‑channel B2C retailer in delivering sales, profit and cash performance. Working closely with merchandising and buying teams, you will help maximise product availability, optimise stock allocation and drive category growth.

Key responsibilities

• Support retail growth strategy and partner with finance to manage sales, margin and KPI delivery.
• Analyse data and market trends to inform range selection, stock forecasting and category direction.
• Maintain product data, cost files and implement planograms across categories.
• Lead development of bespoke products, ensuring quality, margin and timely delivery.
• Develop and execute promotional and seasonal strategies, including POS and digital activity.
• Drive commercial performance through trading analysis, forecasting and stock optimisation.
• Assist with store layout, space planning and communication of range and promotions.
• Manage supplier relationships, tenders and day‑to‑day coordination on range, delivery and merchandising.
• Gather customer insights to inform category improvements.
• Handle reporting, administrative duties and cost file management.

Required profile

• Ideally 3+ years of experience in FMCG or retail, preferably across multiple grocery categories.
• Experience in supermarket, convenience retail or account management.
• Strong commercial awareness with understanding of P&L, sales and margin drivers.
• Proven supplier management and buying experience.
