Assistant Management Accountant – Graduate Role

About the role

We are looking for a recent graduate with a finance or accounting background to join our expanding team in Manchester city centre. Working closely with a qualified Management Accountant and a forward‑thinking finance controller, you will gain hands‑on experience across core accounting, analysis and business partnering.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare month‑end and management accounts.
• Produce financial reports and KPI dashboards.
• Analyse variances and provide commercial insights.
• Collaborate with business units to discuss performance and drive improvements.
• Support the senior accountant with journal entries and ledger reconciliations.

Required profile

• 2:1 (or above) degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Previous experience at Assistant Accountant level (e.g., sandwich placement or post‑graduation).
• Strong analytical mindset and proactive attitude.
• Excellent communication skills – comfortable presenting numbers to non‑finance colleagues.
• Team‑oriented and eager to develop professionally.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of debits, credits and journal processing.
• IT proficiency (e.g., Excel and accounting software).
