About the role
This full‑time, school‑based position starts in September 2026 at a "Good" rated primary school in Tower Hamlets. The Assistant SENCO will support the delivery of high‑quality SEN provision across the primary and, eventually, the nursery phases.
Key responsibilities
- Teach a small ARP class of six non‑verbal/ASD pupils.
- Lead and mentor an experienced HLTA team.
- Support the preparation and delivery of EHCP applications, including assessments and report writing.
- Provide ongoing SEN leadership and support, initially in the primary school and later extending to the nursery.
- Maintain accurate data and administrative records for SEN pupils.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Strong understanding of SEN, particularly autism spectrum disorders.
- Ability to work confidently in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
- Excellent planning and teaching skills for SEN pupils.
- Proven ability to collaborate within a large, multidisciplinary team.
