Associate Director – Accountancy & Business Advisory

About the role

We are seeking an Associate Director to join a growing independent accountancy and business advisory practice in Milton Keynes. You will act as a trusted advisor to SME and owner‑managed clients, delivering high‑quality accounts, tax and commercial advice while supporting the firm’s strategic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of SME and owner‑managed clients, providing advice on accounts, corporate and personal tax and commercial matters.
• Lead client relationships, identify opportunities to increase recurring fee income and ensure delivery against fee budgets.
• Oversee portfolio performance, including work‑in‑progress, recoverability, billing, debtors and fee budgeting.
• Support business development through networking, referrals, cross‑selling and winning new work.
• Mentor and develop managers and team members, contributing to the firm’s strategic direction.

Required profile

• ACCA and/or CTA qualified.
• 8‑10 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts, corporate and personal tax.
• Proven ability to manage client portfolios and deliver business advisory services.
• Commercially minded with a track record of generating new business.
• Excellent leadership, communication and people management skills.
