Associate Publisher – Open Access Journals (Microbiology & Oncology)

About the role

The Associate Publisher will manage a portfolio of open‑access journals covering microbiology and oncology. Reporting to an Executive Publisher, you will drive strategic development, oversee journal performance, and act as a key liaison between internal teams, external editors, and the scientific community.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement annual growth plans for a group of open‑access journals, targeting submission, publication, and transfer volumes.
• Ensure best‑in‑class author experience and maintain strong engagement with Editors‑in‑Chief, Editorial Board Members, and societies.
• Resolve pre‑ and post‑publication issues, including authorship, scope, ethics, and misconduct concerns.
• Analyse data from diverse sources to support data‑driven decision‑making and strategic planning.
• Manage contract negotiations and financial forecasting using profit & loss statements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in life, biomedical or health sciences or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong persuasion and influencing abilities.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Experience building productive relationships with academic and industry researchers.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for the role.
