Attendance Officer – School

About the role

The Attendance Officer will lead the academy’s whole‑school attendance strategy, ensuring every pupil maximises their potential through regular attendance. You will combine operational duties such as late‑gate patrols and home visits with essential administrative support.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily ‘Late Gate’ patrols and home visits to address punctuality and absence.
• Maintain the academy’s registration and attendance Management Information System.
• Operate the automated system for contacting parents about absences.
• Engage directly with students and parents to discuss reasons for absence and provide appropriate support.
• Prepare and present detailed attendance data for monitoring and reporting.
• Process referrals for Fixed Penalty Notices and publicise attendance information through various channels.

Required profile

• Excellent verbal and written communication with diverse audiences.
• Strong time‑management and organisational abilities.
• Resilience and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

• Salary range £23,238 – £24,475 per annum.
• 37‑hour week, term‑time only plus 5 days.
