Audit Advisor

About the role

AAB, a leading professional services firm, is seeking an Audit Advisor to join its External Audit team in Edinburgh. You will work on mid‑market clients, delivering audit engagements from planning through to completion while supporting the firm’s commitment to quality and ESG values.

Key responsibilities

• Execute planning and completion of audit work in line with internal processes, resources and budget.
• Take responsibility for audit fieldwork, managing delivery expectations and flagging issues early.
• Identify and address complex audit areas, escalating queries to senior team members as needed.
• Participate in planning and clearance meetings, preparing materials and responding to client queries.
• Review draft accounts, issue them to clients and resolve any follow‑up questions.
• Act as the primary client contact on‑site during fieldwork, coordinating queries and identifying cross‑service opportunities.
• Manage work delegated to junior staff while ensuring overall delivery meets deadlines.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline (or equivalent professional qualification).
• Progress towards ACA/ACCA or similar chartered qualification.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build client relationships.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
