Behaviour Mentor – Primary School (Key Stage 2)

About the role
Long Term Futures are seeking two Behaviour Mentors to join a welcoming primary school in Northfield, Birmingham. The role is full‑time, Monday‑Friday, supporting Key Stage 2 pupils with SEMH, autism, ADHD and other behavioural or learning needs.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group interventions focused on emotional regulation, social skills and resilience.
- Support pupils inside and outside the classroom, including transitions, playtimes and outdoor learning.
- Implement behaviour support plans and therapeutic strategies devised by the SENCO and external professionals.
- Build trusting relationships that promote confidence, independence and wellbeing.
- Collaborate closely with class teachers, the SENCO, pastoral staff and parents to ensure consistent support.
Required profile
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience).
- Experience working with children who have SEMH, autism, ADHD or behavioural challenges.
- Understanding of trauma‑informed practice, restorative approaches or PDA strategies.
- Calm, resilient and confident when managing challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
