Building Fabric Technician – Carpentry/Plumbing Multi‑Trade

About the role

Our client, a leading property maintenance and facilities management specialist in the South of England, is looking for a Building Fabric Technician to join their team in Horsham. The role combines core carpentry or plumbing expertise with a variety of secondary trade tasks, delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across commercial properties.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive maintenance requests for commercial sites.
• Diagnose and repair issues within the primary trade (carpentry or plumbing) and perform secondary trade duties as required.
• Attend emergency call‑outs and work collaboratively with other engineering technicians.
• Record all work digitally, including job updates and photographic evidence, using a PDA or smartphone.
• Support management with COSHH inventories, risk assessments and maintain clean, safe company vehicles and tools.
• Participate in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry OR Plumbing (or equivalent).
• Proven ability in at least two secondary trades to a high standard.
• 2‑5 years’ experience in commercial property maintenance or facilities management.
• Full clean UK driving licence and the ability to pass a DBS check.
• Desirable: CSCS, PASMA or IPAF certification.

• Salary £38,000 per annum.
