Buyer / Procurement Specialist – Up to £50,000

About the role

We are seeking a commercially driven Buyer / Procurement Specialist to join a fast‑paced manufacturing business in Blackburn. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will own procurement activities across designated categories, ensuring the right materials are sourced at the right price and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end procurement for assigned product and material categories, including RFQs, tenders and supplier selection.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers.
• Support commercial negotiations to achieve cost savings, improved service and added value.
• Monitor supplier performance on quality, cost and delivery and drive improvement initiatives.
• Create, issue and track purchase orders, confirming availability, lead times and delivery schedules.
• Watch stock levels of raw materials, components and finished goods and flag potential supply risks.
• Collaborate with planning, operations and other internal teams to meet production requirements.
• Analyse spend data to identify cost‑reduction opportunities and support KPI reporting.
• Maintain accurate supplier records and resolve invoice or delivery queries.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement or buying within a manufacturing environment.
• Commercially minded with a focus on cost optimisation and service quality.
• Strong relationship‑building and negotiation abilities.
• Comfortable working with IT systems and data‑driven processes.
