Cash & Accounts Payable Specialist

About the role

A leading US law firm is looking for a highly organised Cash & Accounts Payable Specialist to join its London finance team. Reporting to the International Controller, the role provides exposure to cash management, client‑account compliance, accounts payable processing and financial operations across the firm’s international offices.

Key responsibilities

• Review and code vendor invoices to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance.
• Prepare electronic payment files and verify their accuracy.
• Identify and post cash receipts to invoices and client ledgers for London, Paris and Hong Kong.
• Ensure client account receipts and payments meet firm policy, AML requirements and SRA Accounts Rules.
• Calculate and process client interest payments in line with firm policy.
• Prepare monthly client account balance reports for partners and annual balances for clients.
• Support ad‑hoc finance projects as required.
• Collaborate with Client Operations on accounts receivable and cost write‑offs.
• Liaise with client AP departments professionally and in line with service standards.
• Resolve accounting and financial queries through research and data interpretation.
• Maintain confidential data, enforce internal controls and ensure compliance with SRA rules and firm policies.

Required profile

• Accounts Payable or legal cashiering experience within a law‑firm environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with Aderant and/or Chrome River is advantageous.
• Intermediate Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Excellent interpersonal and client‑service skills.
