CEO/MD – New Fire Sector Buy‑Build Group

About the role

Independence Capital is creating a new buy‑build group in the fire sector, covering consulting (design & build) and protection (product & maintenance) services. The successful candidate will act as CEO/MD, leading the formation, acquisition, and scaling of off‑market fire businesses to achieve a multi‑million‑pound EBITDA target.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and acquire fire‑related businesses with turnover between £2m‑£10m.
• Aggregate assets to build a cohesive group and drive EBITDA growth.
• Develop and execute a dual‑track exit strategy (trade sale or private equity).
• Oversee finance, operations, commercial and product functions across the new entities.
• Provide board‑level leadership and governance for the growing portfolio.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years experience at board level.
• At least 10 years experience within the fire market.
• Proven track record of scaling businesses and delivering EBITDA growth.
• Prior private‑equity experience or successful exit delivery is highly desirable.
• Open to finance, operations, commercial or product leaders stepping into their first MD role.
• Willingness to commit a six‑figure personal capital investment.
• Preference for candidates based in the North‑West, Midlands or Yorkshire.
