Chartered Legal Executive – Employment Law

About the role

We are seeking a Chartered Legal Executive specialising in employment law to join our team in Leeds. You will work within a government‑focused legal practice, providing advice and handling cases that impact public policy and services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on employment matters to government departments and officials.
• Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and legislation.
• Manage a caseload of employment disputes, including litigation and settlement negotiations.
• Collaborate with senior lawyers, ministers and departmental officials across various legal areas.
• Stay updated on relevant employment and EU legislation and ensure compliance.

Required profile

• Qualified Chartered Legal Executive (or Solicitor/Barrister) with experience in employment law.
• Strong analytical and judgment skills with the ability to deliver balanced, risk‑based advice.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex legal issues clearly.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to obtain DV security clearance where required.
