Children’s Social Worker – Cared for Children

About the role

Our client, a Greater Manchester council, is looking for a dedicated Children’s Social Worker to join their Cared for Children team. You will manage a caseload of looked‑after children, including unaccompanied asylum‑seeking children, ensuring their safety and long‑term wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of looked‑after children and UASC, delivering statutory visits, assessments, care plans and reviews within legal timescales.
• Build positive relationships with children and young people, incorporating their wishes and experiences into decision‑making.
• Facilitate access to education, health, legal and advocacy services, working with interpreters and specialist agencies as needed.
• Collaborate with foster carers, residential settings, families and partner agencies to promote placement stability and achieve permanence.
• Prepare high‑quality assessments, reports and court documentation while keeping accurate case records.
• Support children in permanence planning, pathway planning and preparation for independence.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Minimum three years’ experience as a qualified social worker, preferably with looked‑after children or UASC.
