About the role
This 12‑month fixed‑term Clinical Fellow position supports the General Surgery team at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. It is aimed at FY2 doctors who have completed FY1 training and hold full GMC registration.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in out‑of‑hours on‑call and HDU rotas, providing acute and elective surgical care.
- Assist in theatre, including operating lists and a supervised monthly minor‑ops list.
- Contribute to departmental research, teaching, and a supervised Quality Improvement project.
- Engage in weekly surgical teaching programmes, skills clubs and monthly audit meetings.
Required profile
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- Completion of FY1 training.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to professional development and mentorship.
Required skills
- General surgery clinical skills.
- Experience in High Dependency Unit (HDU) care.
- Theatre and minor‑operation experience.
- On‑call rota management.
