Commercial Director / Trading Director

About the role

We are seeking a Commercial Director / Trading Director to join a historic, independent global Lloyd's brokerage with offices in the UK and worldwide. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will lead commercial performance, shape sales strategy and oversee multiple high‑performing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the annual sales plan, ensuring individual, team and business targets are met.
• Manage, implement and continuously review the sales strategy, taking ownership of overall sales performance.
• Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing sales team, including training and performance appraisal.
• Generate income and profit through new business development, client retention and relationship growth.
• Advise clients on insurance solutions, maintaining a consultative approach.
• Drive new business activity via marketing initiatives, referrals and client presentations.
• Maintain strong relationships with insurer partners and manage budgets, income, expenditure and profit.
• Resolve client issues promptly and escalate when necessary.
• Travel regularly to other offices, client premises and occasional international locations.

Required profile

• Proven experience at senior level as a Commercial Director, Trading Director or equivalent senior commercial role.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large sales teams and deliver revenue growth.
• Strong client‑facing skills with a consultative sales approach.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Willingness to travel regularly, including international trips.
