About the role
Swansea Women’s Aid is seeking a dedicated Community VAWDASV Specialist to work with children, young people and families affected by domestic abuse. The role involves delivering one‑to‑one sessions and group work to identify and respond to the emotional and practical needs of those who have experienced or are currently exposed to violence.
Key responsibilities
- Provide tailored one‑to‑one support and facilitate group activities for children and young people.
- Assess and respond to the specific emotional, safety and practical needs of service users.
- Collaborate with multi‑agency partners to ensure a coordinated response.
- Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service development.
- Promote the wellbeing and resilience of children and families within the Swansea community.
Required profile
- Experience working with children, young people and families, preferably in a domestic‑abuse context.
- Understanding of the impacts of violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, including Welsh language awareness.
- Ability to work flexibly within a 21‑hour weekly schedule.
Required skills
- Strong communication and active‑listening abilities.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Capacity to deliver both individual and group interventions.
What we offer
- Fixed‑term contract funded until 31 March 2027 (potential extension).
- Salary of £15,601.29 per annum.
- 21 hours per week, onsite in Swansea.
