Contingent Worker Onboarding & Compliance Lead (Fixed-Term)

About the role

The Financial Times is seeking a Contingent Worker Onboarding & Compliance Lead to design and implement a centralised, consistent approach to onboarding and offboarding contractors, freelancers and other non‑permanent resources worldwide. You will work across People, Technology, Cyber Security, Finance and other teams to embed robust Joiner‑Mover‑Leaver controls while balancing business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and embed a standardised onboarding and offboarding framework for contingent workers across the FT.
• Establish consistent Joiner‑Mover‑Leaver (JML) controls aligned with People, Technology, Finance and Cyber Security requirements.
• Define minimum vetting requirements and ensure screening and onboarding controls match system access levels.
• Map access routes for contractors, assess risks and recommend solutions to close control gaps.
• Create and maintain a central record of contingent worker engagements with clear ownership and visibility.
• Partner with Legal and Procurement to strengthen supplier contracts and ensure compliance standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing contractor or contingent workforce onboarding and offboarding in a complex organisation.
• Strong understanding of vetting, screening, access control and compliance requirements.
• Ability to assess risk pragmatically and translate requirements into workable processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple functions.
• Highly organised with attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously.
