Contract Hire Accounting Professional

About the role

This position supports the financial operations of Santander Consumer Finance's contract hire portfolio in Milton Keynes. You will work within a small team to deliver monthly financials and manage all finance aspects linked to contract hire, including cash management, invoicing, VAT, and statutory reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Promote a strong risk‑aware culture and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Manage cash, process sales and purchase invoices, and handle VAT returns.
• Act as the finance point‑of‑contact for internal stakeholders and external partners such as auditors and suppliers.
• Assist with month‑end closing activities, including journals, pre‑payments, accruals and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support the creation and maintenance of customer agreements, revenue recognition, asset depreciation and cost allocation.
• Prepare management packs, KPIs and variance analysis for monthly results.
• Develop and document planning assumptions, internal controls and reporting frameworks.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of financial reporting processes, methods and tools.
• Ability to produce accurate and thorough financial reports.
• Understanding of the contract hire business model and related regulatory obligations.
