Costs Draftsperson – Legal Costs Department

About the role

Express Solicitors is seeking an experienced Costs Draftsperson to join its busy costs department of over 40 professionals. You will support senior case handlers by preparing formal bills, supplementary documents and other cost‑related filings for personal injury and clinical negligence claims.

Key responsibilities

• Draft formal bills for inter partes detailed assessment and N260 statements of costs.
• Prepare Part 8 proceedings, risk assessments and investigate disbursement liabilities.
• Maintain accurate client ledger reviews, complete work check lists and adhere to WIP targets.
• Produce Precedent S and Q documents and commence Detailed Assessment proceedings on approved work.

Required profile

• 2–10 years of drafting experience in claimant personal injury cases.
• Legal qualification (LLB, GDL, LPC) desirable.
• Strong written and oral communication, ability to work under pressure and meet targets.
• Knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules, Detailed Assessment process and time‑recording procedures.
