Court of Protection Paralegal

About the role

The Court of Protection team at Duncan Lewis Solicitors is seeking a motivated Paralegal to support experienced solicitors with a varied caseload involving vulnerable clients. You will work on applications, hearings and ongoing deputyship administration, delivering compassionate client care.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and draft Court of Protection applications, witness statements, correspondence and supporting documents under supervision.
• Liaise with clients, families, deputies, the Office of the Public Guardian, healthcare professionals and other third parties.
• Review medical records, capacity assessments and financial information to build case files.
• Conduct legal research, assist with court bundles and hearing documentation.
• Maintain accurate records, meet court deadlines and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, Caseworker or similar within Court of Protection, Private Client, Community Care, Personal Injury or Litigation.
• Strong organisational abilities, attention to detail and the capacity to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and proactive approach.
• Experience working with vulnerable clients and their families.

Required skills

• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with case management systems used in legal practice.
