Criminal Lawyer – 2+ PQE – St Albans – £61,750‑£71,400 + Bonus

About the role

This position is for a Criminal Lawyer with at least two years post‑qualification experience, based in St Albans. The role offers a transition into a prosecutions focus, with comprehensive training, clear progression pathways and a supportive, collaborative culture.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of complex criminal matters, developing expertise in prosecution.
• Prepare and present cases, demonstrating strong advocacy, analytical and case preparation skills.
• Work on cases that have a meaningful impact on public safety and justice.
• Collaborate with senior counsel, support staff and external agencies to ensure effective case management.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or barrister in England & Wales with a minimum of two years PQE in criminal law (defence or prosecution).
• Strong advocacy, case preparation and analytical abilities.
• Commitment to justice and public service, with ambition to develop specialist technical expertise in prosecutions.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
