Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

This is a hands‑on Cyber Security Engineer position based in South Manchester, offering a hybrid working model. You will work closely with the Head of Information Security, tackling real security challenges across cloud and on‑prem environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and optimise security tooling such as EDR, SIEM, WAF and NGFW.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents in collaboration with a Managed SOC.
• Identify, remediate and track vulnerabilities across the technology estate.
• Implement security hardening for cloud, infrastructure and network components.
• Ensure compliance with ISO27001, PCI DSS and Cyber Essentials standards.
• Develop automation and scripting solutions using PowerShell or Python.
• Continuously improve operational security processes and standards.

Required profile

• Background in Cyber Security Engineering, Infrastructure Security or Security Operations.
• Enjoys ownership, variety and being technically involved rather than siloed.
• Motivated to contribute to a business that is actively investing in its security capability.

Required skills

• Experience with EDR, SIEM, WAF and NGFW technologies.
• Proficiency in PowerShell and Python for automation.
• Knowledge of vulnerability identification and remediation.
• Understanding of security hardening practices for cloud, infrastructure and networks.
• Familiarity with ISO27001, PCI DSS and Cyber Essentials compliance.
