Dealership Accountant – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established automotive dealership group in Manchester to hire a Dealership Accountant on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will provide accurate financial reporting, maintain strong controls and deliver commercial insight to support senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, profit and loss statements and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Monitor dealership performance against budgets and forecasts, analysing KPIs and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Oversee daily accounting activities including sales, purchase and nominal ledgers.
• Manage cash‑flow reporting and control accounts.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and year‑end audit processes.
• Liaise with external auditors, manufacturers and key stakeholders.
• Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function.

Required profile

• Qualified by Experience (QBE), Part‑Qualified or Fully Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
• Previous experience in the motor trade, automotive or dealership environment is highly desirable.
• Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast‑moving commercial setting.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels.
