Deputy Director Commercial Services

About the role

The British Transport Police is seeking a Deputy Director Commercial Services to provide strategic, force‑wide leadership across commercial and procurement functions. This senior role will shape commercial strategy, drive high‑value initiatives and ensure robust governance while supporting the safety of the railway network.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic commercial leadership and expert advice to Chief Officers and senior leaders.
• Translate organisational priorities into clear, value‑driven commercial strategies and cross‑sector collaborations.
• Lead and embed robust procurement frameworks, ensuring transparent, compliant and value‑focused delivery.
• Oversee strategic supplier relationships, maximise performance, and manage complex, high‑value contracts.
• Drive major commercial programmes, negotiate complex deals and improve supplier performance.
• Strengthen governance, reporting and commercial controls to ensure full regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in commercial, procurement or contract management.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive organisational change.
• Strong understanding of public‑sector procurement regulations and commercial best practice.
• Experience working with multi‑agency partners, preferably within transport or security environments.
