Deputy Director Global Security (UK/NL/Kenya)

About the role

Mercy Corps is seeking a Deputy Director Global Security to support the Senior Director in shaping and implementing security policies across its operations in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Kenya. The role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on management of a team of security advisors, ensuring the safety of staff and assets in complex humanitarian environments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Director in developing global security strategies, policies and standard operating procedures.
• Lead and mentor a regional team of security advisors, overseeing risk assessments, threat monitoring and incident response.
• Collaborate with field and headquarters teams to integrate security considerations into program design and implementation.
• Provide expert analysis of emerging security trends and advise senior management on mitigation measures.
• Coordinate with external partners, including local authorities and other NGOs, to enhance collective security efforts.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in security management within humanitarian or emergency‑response contexts.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of risk‑management principles.
• Excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity across diverse regions.
