About the role
The Director of Transport Programmes will lead a high‑impact portfolio of transport projects that support economic growth and sustainability across the West of England. You will be responsible for turning strategic objectives into tangible outcomes, connecting people to opportunities and reshaping how the region moves.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor programme progress to ensure delivery on time, within budget and at best value for money.
- Develop robust business cases and prioritise funding for projects that deliver the greatest regional benefit.
- Oversee contract negotiation and management, aligning contracts with strategic goals.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as the Executive Director of Transport and with external partners including public sector bodies, contractors and consultants.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging advancements in transport and infrastructure.
Required profile
- Proven senior transport leadership experience in a complex, high‑profile, multi‑stakeholder environment.
- Demonstrated programme and project leadership, including experience as a Senior Responsible Officer on major initiatives.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage public procurement processes.
