About the role
This permanent position with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde offers an exciting opportunity to work as a District Nurse Specialist Practitioner within the West Dunbartonshire District Nursing Team. You will deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care to patients in their homes and communities, leading a diverse caseload while supporting and developing the district nursing team.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage a defined district nursing caseload, ensuring safe and effective person‑centred care.
- Provide skilled clinical interventions and act as the clinical expert in community nursing practice.
- Coordinate workload, prioritise care needs and respond to both planned and urgent unscheduled requests.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, patients and carers to plan and deliver holistic care.
- Delegate, supervise and support team members to maintain high standards of practice.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with professional, legal and organisational standards.
- Contribute to service improvement, audit, education and the ongoing development of the district nursing team.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration in Adult Nursing.
- Specialist Practitioner qualification in District Nursing at Master's level or equivalent.
- V300 Independent Prescribing qualification and advanced clinical assessment skills.
- Demonstrable leadership and management experience in a community or primary‑care setting.
- Evidence of continuous professional development and a commitment to lifelong learning.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving and organisational abilities.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
