Education Officer – Zoo

About the role

Join Drayton Manor Zoo as an Education Officer and bring wildlife conservation to life for visitors of all ages. You will design and deliver engaging, curriculum‑linked programmes, talks and interactive experiences that inspire a love of nature and support the zoo’s educational mission.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver dynamic educational sessions, workshops and conservation talks for diverse audiences.
• Create and maintain engaging displays, teaching resources and the Education Centre.
• Collaborate with marketing to promote educational events and attract visitors.
• Support zoo‑wide events, outreach programmes, clubs and animal‑experience activities.
• Lead and mentor volunteers, ensuring high presentation standards across the site.
• Contribute to strategic planning for the Education Department’s growth.

Required profile

• Passionate about wildlife, conservation and education.
• Confident presenter with the ability to engage all age groups.
• Creative, enthusiastic and full of fresh ideas.
• Organised, able to juggle multiple projects and priorities.
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
• Committed to modern, ethical zoo practices.

Required skills

• Experience delivering educational programmes or workshops.
• Ability to develop clear, compelling conservation messaging.
• Volunteer coordination and team‑leadership experience.
