Electrical Controls Manager

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Controls & Instrumentation Manager to lead the site‑wide electrical, controls and automation capability for a fast‑growing UK engineering organisation operating in defence, security and advanced industrial sectors. The role combines strategic ownership of the automation roadmap with hands‑on technical responsibility across a safety‑critical manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and deliver the site’s automation and controls strategy.
• Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team, building capability and driving performance.
• Manage high‑value CAPEX programmes for electrical and automation systems.
• Ensure integrity, compliance and reliability of HV/LV distribution and control networks.
• Optimise PLC and SCADA architecture to support operational excellence.
• Embed robust engineering standards, safety practices and long‑term asset strategies.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in manufacturing, process or high‑hazard industries.
• Strong background in electrical engineering and industrial automation.
• Track record of leading teams and delivering complex technical projects.
• Deep understanding of electrical distribution, compliance and safety frameworks.
• Ability to influence stakeholders across engineering and operations.
