Electrical Maintenance Engineer – Shift Role

About the role

This position is for an Electrical Shift Engineer who will maintain and improve electrical systems on high‑volume production machinery. You will work on a rotating shift pattern in a large‑scale manufacturing environment, diagnosing faults and delivering reliable plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, upgrade and rebuild electrical systems throughout the machine lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain 3‑phase motor control circuits, variable speed drives, and directional control using AC/DC inverters.
• Identify and resolve electrical faults quickly using structured root‑cause analysis.
• Configure and maintain inline metal‑detection systems and industrial printing equipment.
• Set up, commission and maintain VFDs and soft starters for process control.
• Develop modular PLC programmes and keep documentation, drawings and panel layouts up to date.
• Balance urgent breakdown response with ongoing improvement and upgrade projects.

Required profile

• HNC or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments.
• Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving abilities in electrical systems.
• Familiarity with health and safety standards in an engineering setting.
• Proactive, collaborative approach to teamwork.
