English Teacher – Secondary School (Full‑time)

About the role

This full‑time position is based in a vibrant, inclusive secondary school in Redbridge, East London. You will join a supportive English department and be responsible for teaching English Language and Literature to Key Stages 3 and 4, preparing students for their GCSE examinations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess engaging English lessons for KS3 and KS4.
• Use assessment data to inform planning and provide targeted interventions.
• Prepare students for GCSE English exams and monitor progress.
• Contribute to departmental resources, reading clubs, writing workshops and extracurricular activities.
• Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and promote a love of literature.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Degree in English or a closely related subject.
• Experience teaching English in a secondary school setting.
• Strong understanding of the GCSE English specifications.
• Commitment to raising attainment for all learners.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of GCSE English Language and Literature.
• Ability to differentiate lessons for a range of abilities.
• Effective classroom and behaviour management techniques.
