Finance Director

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong controls and commercial insight. This hands‑on role is ideal for someone who thrives in a growing SME, wants to influence decision‑making, improve processes and support business growth. The position is based in Thame with a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial finance analysis to support strategic decisions, drive pricing, profitability and margin improvement initiatives, and evaluate investment opportunities.
• Lead the finance function, produce monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts, oversee cash flow, working capital, KPI reporting and manage the Bookkeeper.
• Maintain robust financial controls, manage month‑end and year‑end processes, liaise with external accountants and auditors, and ensure VAT, tax compliance and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control and payroll, and improve financial systems, reporting and process automation, supporting ERP and accounting system optimisation.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with experience in a senior finance role.
• Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and experience of international trading and multi‑currency accounting.
• Excellent communication skills to explain financial information clearly to non‑financial stakeholders.
• Highly organised, proactive, detail‑oriented and trustworthy with strong professional integrity.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and financial modelling.
• Accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.
• Multi‑currency accounting.
