Finance Manager – Transactional Finance Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Manager to lead the transactional finance function for a values‑driven organisation operating across multiple sites. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will oversee a small team and ensure accurate financial information supports key business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of Finance Officers and an Assistant.
• Oversee Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, banking, reconciliations and the in‑house payroll process.
• Ensure month‑end reconciliations are completed accurately for high‑quality management reporting.
• Support the production of management accounts, budgets, forecasts and the annual audit.
• Act as the primary finance contact for operational managers across multiple sites.
• Monitor debtor and creditor performance and allocate income and funding correctly.
• Drive continuous improvement, strengthen financial controls and deputise for the Head of Finance when required.

Required profile

• Proactive finance professional with experience leading a transactional finance team.
• Strong knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger, banking and month‑end processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to develop people, improve processes and build strong working relationships.
• Attitude, leadership potential and willingness to learn are highly valued.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with financial software and payroll processing.
