Financial Accountant

About the role

Nacro is seeking a qualified or part‑qualified accountant to join its Finance team in Central Birmingham. Working in a hybrid model, you will help shape the charity’s financial future by delivering accurate reporting, strong controls and insightful analysis that support its social‑impact mission.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, journals and reconciliations.
• Coordinate month‑end and year‑end close activities, maintaining key balance‑sheet and control accounts.
• Support the preparation of statutory accounts and external audit requirements.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC regulations.
• Complete and review bank reconciliations, monitor cash flow and assist treasury activities.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes.
• Provide line‑management and development support to Finance Assistants.
• Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation to ensure financial information meets business needs.

Required profile

• Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
• Motivation to make a meaningful impact within a national charity.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Ability to work collaboratively and drive continuous improvement.

Required skills
