Financial Accountant

About the role

PUMA is seeking a Financial Accountant to own key balance‑sheet reconciliations, support fixed‑asset and lease accounting, and drive the company’s SAP implementation. You will work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate month‑end close, statutory reporting and compliance with tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain balance‑sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Manage the fixed‑asset register, capital expenditures and depreciation schedules.
• Support lease accounting and related reporting requirements.
• Execute month‑end activities including journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments and balance‑sheet reviews.
• Assist in statutory accounts preparation and external audit coordination.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and other regulatory reports (ONS, etc.).
• Participate in SAP transition: testing, data validation, master‑data governance, UAT and post‑go‑live stabilisation.
• Identify and implement process improvements through system enhancements.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified, finalist or newly qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in financial accounting, practice or industry.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping, double‑entry accounting and accounting principles; IFRS knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with balance‑sheet reconciliations, month‑end close, VAT returns and regulatory reporting.
• Previous exposure to ERP/SAP implementation or migration projects.
• Advanced Excel skills with high attention to detail.
• Self‑motivated, organised and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
