Financial Accountant (Part-qualified)

About the role

Barbour is seeking a Part‑qualified Financial Accountant to join its Finance team at the Head Office in South Shields. The role supports financial control and compliance across a multi‑entity group, delivering accurate reporting and robust internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Lead external statutory and regulatory compliance for UK, US and international entities.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and prepare financial reports.
• Support tax and statutory obligations across the group.
• Strengthen and embed internal controls while ensuring data integrity.
• Utilise Microsoft 365 tools, especially Excel and Power BI, to produce timely and insightful financial information.
• Own processes, manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.

Required profile

• Highly detail‑oriented with a “right first time” mindset.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Effective communicator able to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proactive, commercially aware and comfortable challenging existing processes.
• Demonstrates personal leadership in a fast‑paced finance environment.
