Financial Controller – Hybrid (Derby/Bristol)

About the role

The Central Finance UK team is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee the integrity of financial results, control environment, and financial planning across multiple joint ventures. This hybrid position is based in Derby or Bristol, with three days a week on site.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the financial close process and ensure accurate segmental allocations to divisions.
• Lead and develop the FP&A team, fostering high performance.
• Deliver cyclical reporting and forecasts in line with Group Finance timelines.
• Ensure statutory reporting compliance for all legal entities, including legacy overseas businesses.
• Coordinate globally with regional finance teams, chair the monthly Global FC meeting, and act as escalation point.
• Handle technical accounting issues and embed new accounting standards.
• Consolidate results for SMR and RRPF, challenge forecasts, and drive dividend management.
• Maintain a strong control environment, manage financial risks, and provide transparent cost commentary.
• Own external and internal audit processes and approve structural changes post‑reorganisation.
• Lead corporate system changes, automation initiatives, and act as primary contact for external auditors.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with extensive experience in financial control.
• Proven leadership of FP&A or finance teams.
• Strong understanding of statutory reporting, consolidation, and technical accounting.
• Experience working in a global, multi‑entity environment.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information to senior stakeholders.
