Freelance PHP Web Developer for Membership Site

About the role

We are looking for a freelance PHP Web Developer to maintain and enhance a membership‑based website serving a global community of bonsai enthusiasts. The role is fully remote and involves close collaboration with an editor, brand manager, IT services, and a volunteer Board of Directors.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the PHP‑based platform, ensuring optimal performance, security, and accessibility.
• Implement new features and enhancements requested by stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to user accounts, subscriptions, and forum functionality.
• Collaborate with non‑technical team members to align website updates with organizational goals.
• Provide technical documentation and support for ongoing operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in PHP web development, especially on membership‑based platforms.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for working with non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
• Availability to coordinate with teams in the Canada (Winnipeg) time zone is a plus.
