Functional Skills Curriculum Tutor – English & Maths (Online)

About the role

We are looking for a Functional Skills Curriculum Tutor to plan, coordinate and deliver engaging online English and maths training for apprentices in the education and early‑years sector. The role supports learners from Level 2 to Level 5, helping them develop functional skills that are integral to their curricula.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, interactive English and maths functional‑skills sessions to under‑18 apprentices (early years, teaching assistants, playworkers).
• Prepare and personalise each session to meet individual learner needs and learning objectives.
• Utilise online teaching tools to enhance the learning experience and maintain a supportive virtual classroom.
• Promote positive behaviour, enforce the code of conduct, and encourage active participation.
• Assess learner starting points, provide stretch and challenge, and give constructive feedback.
• Collect post‑session feedback through virtual classroom surveys.
• Develop and maintain high‑quality learner materials and a comprehensive resource library in collaboration with the Curriculum Manager.
• Create recorded lessons that link curriculum content to English and maths concepts.

Required profile

• Experience delivering functional‑skills training to apprentices or similar learner groups.
• Ability to tailor sessions to diverse learner levels (Level 2‑5).
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with online teaching platforms and digital learning tools.
